Satna, with the internet you can learn or know just about anything that you want to learn or know.

My condolences to the victims of the earthquake. Lately, Indonesia has been shaken by the earthquakes. Is there any decrease on the number of tourists visiting Indonesia as a result?

I have seen the traffics in Thailand and Vietnam and there is no way you can drive or ride fast there without getting into an accident or killed. So, I believe riding or driving in CA is heavenly compared to Thailand, Vietnam, or Indonesia and I agree with you Mr. Nugroho that if I survive riding or driving in Indonesia that I could ride anywhere else in the world without a problem.

Crispy fried duck? Is that as good as Beijing duck? Sorry, I don't eat duck.

Ok, it sounds like the most expensive item for motorcycling in Indonesia is the rental fee for the motorcycle.

Nice pictures from Bali. Many people from the US don't know that Bali is part of Indonesia. If you ask a US citizen if he or she has been to Indonesia, that person's typical response is usually "NO." But if you ask that person have you been to Bali then the answer is "YES."

From what I have read or heard, Bali is a nice place and the crime rate there is low. The people there are super friendly and religious. So, the people who commit crimes there are usually people from Java island. Is this true?

I guess from hereon when I am ready to go motorcycling in Indonesia I will contact you Mr.Nugroho. Thank you so much for the info and pictures that have been provided by Satna, Babeh, and Mr. Nugroho.

Yeah, please post the map(s) to go from Jakarta-Bali and Bali-Indonesia.

Mr. Nugroho, what's your estimate of cost to go round trip Jakarta-Bali and Bali-Jakarta (including motorcycle rental, gasoline, food, entertainment, and lodging)?

What do you do in Bali? And how many nights do you stay there?

Yeah, please post the maps from Jakarta to Bali and from Bali to Jakarta. I understand you can take the north road or the south road.

Thanks for posting the pictures.

Bro Dan,
As I mentioned earlier, riding in Indonesia (with the situation I decribed to you) will provide you a complete riding tests. I believe if once you pass it well you could easily ride anywhare in the world.. Hahaha.
With Ducati at certain spot, at the right time, you could ride as fast as you could (like 200 Km/hour). But I guess that will only for a few seconds...There will be many spots you could ride in an avarage speed of 120-140 Km/hour, like I use to be (even riding with my wife). But at the most cases, you always need to be extra careful and ride safely, may be with an avarage speed of 80-100 Km/hour. If you start getting a better feeling on the type of Indonesian road, you could go a bit faster to an avarage of 90-110 Km/hour.

You have made an excellent observation about the cities I mentioned. Thats is why it would be better if you could at flexy 1 day in each of those cities (Jogjakarta & Malang). At least in Jogjakarta. Otherwise you will miss the exotic Strong Java Culture and interesting places in that city or serounding area.

Bali? You could explore all Bali Tourist spots riding the big bike. That would be cool. There are many good beaches... cultural shows, visit Kintamani lake, Ubud - the art village (don't miss to try a crispy fried duck in Ubud), enjoy the night life in Kuta... Hm.. Once you are there, you will agree with me that stay there for 1 week will definetely not enough...

Cost would be cheap for USD base Tourist. Fuel is about 55 Cent; Good Indonesian Meals could be USD 1,00 - 3,00; Western Meal USD 2,50-10,00. Big Mac at McD is only USD 1.20; Good Hotel (up to 4 stars) is ranging between USD 25.00-50,00 Five stars between USD 60-150. Big Bike rent is quite expensive (about USD 100/day). So you just need to make a compromise between the timing and the budget to get the overall budget.

I will send you the map later. There are some more pics of our Bali trip last April:

Jakarta-Bali is about 1400 Km. You can not expext to ride like at the high way since no bike is allowed to enter into toll road in Indonesia. So, you then have to ride in ordinary road and sharing it with other road users (Buses, Trucks, private cars, other smaller bikes, and others). That is way although you could push to ride Jakarta Bali in 2 days, for safety and more enjoyable ride it is not recommended. We usually split the trip into 3 and spend the night in Jogjakarta (in Central Java) and Malang (in East Java). I can show you later the Java-Bali Map to give you a better idea.

PostSubyek: Re: Wassup bros and sis??????? And am from CA   Wassup bros and sis??????? And am from CA EmptyThu 16 Nov - 1:16

Wow, 104 degrees Fahrenheit. That's too hot for me. I don't usually ride at that temperature unless I really have to.

Once in a while CA temperature can reach 104 in my area. The perfect temperature for me to ride is 65 degrees F (18 degrees C). It seems the motorcycle performs better at a cool temperature.

The longest journey I ever took was about 1200 miles (1920 kms) and it took me two days and that was many years ago.

My usual ride is about 150 miles (240 kms) on a weekend. I like to go fast in the mountain or twisties. On a sportbike after two hours on the bike you would have had enough riding already.

I agree wth you that riding at 104 requires a strong mental and a good physical shape. I have ridden at 104 before but not for long (maybe 1 hour).

Probably if I am going motorcycling there I prefer to go at night. What's the night temperature there? And is it more dangerous riding at night there? Over here riding at night is actual better because much less vehicles on the road and you can go really fast.

So, what's the longest journey you ever took? And how long it took you? Do you ride your bike everyday (I mostly ride in the weekend)? What's your total kms per day?

Well...I have no idea for your question , as far as i know , it's take 2 days for catch to Bali , average speed 85 km/h .It's maybe diferent if we're increase the speed average. Just FYI , we should have best performance/stamina if we wanna have a long distance journey...just imagine , could you ride in 40 degrees celcius for a long day..??

Mr. Nugroho, you are absolutely correct in your comment about English. You can get 100% score in English grammar or writing and 100% score in reading but if you don't speak English everyday your excellent scores in writing and reading will help you very little to speak English well.

So, it sounds like you speak multiple languages or dialects (Sundanese, Javanese, Indonesian, and English). That's quite an accomplishment.

Australian English is not the same as American English (i.e. pronunciation, spelling, etc.). So you actually learned Australian English which nobody understands. Hahahahhaha.

Don't worry about the English grammar even Americans who are born in the US make mistake in English grammar. I guess it's a lifetime learning for everybody (including me).

No, I have no desire to rent a Harley (it's too loud and too much vibration for me), so, a Ducati is fine for me. In regard to Harley, is Tommy still the big boss for Harley?

Thanks for the info on the rental fee. Is CA motorcycle license enough to operate a motorcycle there?

Right now I am just gathering info on motorcycling touring in Indonesia. I don't know when I will do it. I have to consider the time, money, and political stability (or safety) in Indonesia. Any particular group that you recommend for motorcycling in Indonesia?

In regard to addressing me, bro Dan is sufficed.

Yeah, that's a good suggestion Satna (on posting the pictures from a Ducati club's journey).

Hi again. Sorry I'm not sure how to call you. Tell me how shoud we call you. Surprised with my English? Hm.. you will be really surprised if I have to be really in a TOEFL Test. I guess my score would be below 450... Hahaha. I studied my english back to my school period up to high school. We usually also get English subject at the entry level of the University. But I can guarantee you, just passing those formal english classes at school do not help much in improving our English. Especially when the people arround you keep talking in Indonesian, or even, Java or Sunda langguanges. I never studied in the US. My English improves a lot when I was assigned to work for a year in a law firm in Sydney back in 1990. I guess, I am lucky, that my profession (as a lawyer), force me to be able to know English better. Otherwise I could loose my clients.. hahaha. But still up to now quite often I use some improper grammer in my English...

I myself don't ride a Ducati. All of my bikes (1000CC -1300CC) are Japanese. I prefer In-Line4 but I have a VTwin cruiser.

As you can see I am spoiled by big engines and that's why I am inquiring about renting a Ducati.

I am thinking of motorcycling from West Java all the way to Bali and it looks like I have found a group that can fulfill my desire. How long does it take?

Yes, one of my other businesses is become a Ducati Dealer. Renting a Ducati would be cheaper than Harley Davidson. The rental range would be about USD 100-200/day, including insurance, depending on the type of bikes.

Due to a very limited market, not to many big bikes available for rent. So if you would like to do so you better arrange it well in advance.

May I know which group you are going to go with in your trip to Bali?

Hi.. I was invited by Babeh and have just joined in the forum..
There are all range of Ducati bikes in Indonesia. Currently the Ducati entry level is the bike with 620 cc engine (Monster or Multistrada).. I myself ride Multistrada 1000DS.
Due to the very high tax regime applicable for imported bikes above 250 cc, yes the price of big bikes are very expensive compared to the same in the States or other countries.

Oh, so you learned English in school. Well, in that case I take my compliment back. Hehehehe.

Did you attend university and take English classes?

English is important in the globalization era. But what about Mandarin? Is there a push by the government there to learn Mandarin? Over here some schools offer Mandarin classes. According to a US study China will be the largest economy by 2017 surpassing the US.

Don't be silly, you know you cannot fly in a crowded place. Is there a highway in Indonesia where you can fly at least 240KMPH? Is every highway in Indonesia crowded with pedestrians, motorcycles, cars, trucks, buses, taxis, tricycles, and bicycles?

Suzuki Hayabusa top speed (restricted and stock) is 296KMPH. I think Hayabusa is the best all-around bike (from I have ridden).

It's too bad that I cannot ride Hayabusa there. I like to ride big CC bikes. 400CC is too small for me. What's the biggest CC I can rent there and how much?

Hey Beh, can you write more than just welcome aboard? Don't you want to expand your English?

Of course I had learn an english in school , since Junior High School .But in the new generation ( Present time ) English become more important ,so our gov introduce since kindergaten school.
High speed in the street of Indonesia..? It's become useless , because the road so crowdy , and a lot of small bike ride so clumsy ,if you ride your bike 240 km/h in here , i'll guaranteed you ,there's a words "RIP" in your grave ,got my point ?

Regarding a Hayabusa..?? It's Suzuki right ? We're never saw this bike in Indonesia , but I know the max speed of this bike 410 km/h , it's that correct ?
It's become a legend "Fastest motorcycle in face of earth ,that produce in mass prod"

We can't wait to meet you in Indonesia , we can allow you to go riding with our club . The best time is between March-August ( Hot season ) , Everytime is summer in Indonesia.

Thanks bro ....BTW did you found a problem to load your avatar..??
Have you visited www.honda-tiger.or.id ??
A lot of people will greeting you ( Maybe all over Indonesian Tiger bikers will say hello to you ) It's easy to registry in this web , english version.

Cheers,

Satna

No avatar for me.

Wow, you learn English on your own. That's great!!! Have you considered of studying more English at school?

I guess the new generation in Indonesia is greatly influenced by the American culture (i.e. Sesame Street).

What only 150KMPH on a 400CC? That's too low. I remember my KZ400 was able to go 160KMPH. Over here it's > 240KMPH of course the CC is much bigger too.

How much to rent a big bike there? Do they have Hayabusa there? Perhaps, someday I go to Indonesia and go riding with your club. When is the best time to ride there (without getting wet by the rain)?

What about the other bros or sis? Don't you want to practice your English like Satna? C'mon don't be shy. I want you to say more than just WELCOME.
